| OBJECTIVES |
The nurse on completion of this course will be
able to:
Demonstrate competency in providing health
care to individual, sick or well, using nursing
process.
Assess the nursing need of clients from birth
to death
Plan and carry out appropriate action to meet nursing needs.
Provide effective nursing care for maintaining best possible level of health in all aspects.
Promote self care in people under their care.
Apply problem solving techniques in nursing
practice.
Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care.Apply knowledge from the humanities,
biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a nurse.
Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the
knowledge of human relations and communication skills in work.
Participate as member of the health team and community applying the knowledge of
human relations and communication skills in
work.
Participate as member of the health team in delivery of curative, promotive, preventive
and rehabilitative health care services.
Mobilize community resources and their involvement in working with the communities.
Demonstrate use of ethical values in their personal and professional life.
Demonstrate interest in activities of professional organizations.
Recognize the need for continuing education for professional development.
Demonstrate basic skills in teaching patients and giving nursing care to them.

| ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA |
A Candidate seeking admission should have passed the 10+ 2 class or its equivalent preferably with Science ( Physics, Chemistry and Biology) subjects with aggregate of 45% marks.Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years respectively.Completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete this age on or before 31st December of the year of
admission. Candidate shall be medically fit. |
CLASSROOM AND CLINICAL
EXPERIENCE |
practical session every year as stipulated by Karnataka State Diploma Nursing Examination
Board & Indian Nursing Council. They would be posted in diverse clinical settings under supervision of faculty members for correlation
of theory and practice to fulfill their curriculum requirements. |
| PRILIMINARY PERIOD |
There shall be a preliminary period of 12 weeks during which the students are expected to
attend the wards for observation under supervised practice not exceeding 16 hours per week.There shall be an Examination conducted at the
end of preliminary period that is in 11th & 12th week to appraise the student’s ability to further continue the DGNM programme. Only successful candidates shall be permitted to continue the programme. |

ATTENDANCE, PROGRESS AND
CONDUCT |
Each student should have a satisfactory
attendance, progress and conduct from the
faculty members and principal of the school
to be eligible for appearing in the Board
Examinations conducted by KSDNEB,
Bangalore.
A minimum of 80% attendance is required in
theory & practical separately in each subject.
The percentage of attendance in each subject
would be submitted to the nursing Board at
the end of academic year before board
examination. The board issues an examination
application form only for the eligible
candidates for those possessing 80% of
attendance in both theory & practical. |
| INTERNAL ASSESSMENT |
There shall be 25% internal assessment for
all theory papers and 50% internal assessment
for all the practicals.
There shall be a written and practical test
in each subject taken by the respective class
co-ordinators each month.
The internal marks for both the theory and
practical that are sent to the Board is based
on students performance in their classroom
and clinical settings |
| EXAMINATION |
Every year, the Annual Examination will be
conducted by the K.S.D.N.E.B during the
month of August & supplementary examination
will be conducted for failed candidate in the
month of February.
A Candidate must secure 50% marks in internal
assessment separately in theory and practical
subjects. To be successful a student must get
50% marks in the internal as well as Board
Examination in each year. |
| GRADING OF EXAMINATION |
Examination shall be graded on aggregate
marks of the entire three and half years of
the training programme, as follows:
Distinction 80% and above
First Division 70% to 79%
Second Division 60% to 69%
Pass 50% to 59% |
AWARD OF DIPLOMA
CERTIFICATE |
A Candidate is awarded with Diploma
certificte by the K.S.D.N.E.B after a successful
completion of the Programme. |
